Light hitting CF with 2 plus tools now (speed, defense) - shows a ton of confidence at the plate with bunting, but not as much swinging away. Aggressive approach with his bunts...handles the bat and placement very well. Needs to display same confidence when in hitters counts. Has the 'game' speed to beat out a lot of ground balls hit to the left side (and some to the right) - needs to learn to add that to his game.
Defensively, has all the tools. Needs to get a bit better with his initial reaction/route to the ball. Has speed to burn, and must learn to use it to his advantage when playing CF. A true CF with an above avg. arm for the position.
Has a shot to be a starter at the D2/JuCo level, but has the makings of a lower end D1 CF if he can develop even just an avg. bat.
Would like to see him add some weight to the frame, but aside from that, perfect build for a CF. Great kid, tremendous attitude and work ethic.
Small frame, plus runner with 6.5 speed. Big of an enigma. Appears at times to show no confidence at the plate in his swing. "Guess" hitter, especially with 2 strikes. Gets a bit long with swing; needs to shorten stroke and get stronger with his hands. Pitch recognition needs to develop. ++ Runner with outstanding bunting skills. Everyone knows it's coming, and he still can lay down a drag or push bunt with good placement. Have heard him tell players he is going to get 3 bunt base hits before game starts, and he actually goes out and does it. Doesn't show same confidence when swinging away and needs to develop that. Plays to his strengths.
In the field, has all tools to be an above avg. CF, but gets below avg reads on fly balls. Needs to realize how fast he can be in the OF, and use his speed to his advantage. Arm is plus for a CF, but right now, routes play better in LF (even if bat is not suited for the corners)
Very coachable and goes hard, but needs to learn to develop other parts of his game to have a shot at the next level. Speed and bunting ability alone are enough to earn him a shot at the D2/D3/JuCo level. Could be a solid starter if the defense improves and the bat comes around.
Athletic looking CF with above average defensive actions. Good footwork and good angles to the ball. Glides while running. Ran what appeared to be an "easy" 6.79 at this tryout. Good running form, loose and free. Defensive actions & speed alone should make him a good OF at a D2 college, possible even a lower end D1 if bat develops. Has the makings of a good athlete. Needs to add some strength, but has frame to do so. Good one to watch as summer goes on.
